Hayley Williams Releases “Sudden Desire” Lyric Video
In just two months, Hayley Williams will release her first solo album, Petals For Armor, due on May 8th. We’ve already heard five songs on her new EP, and following lyric videos for “Simmer,” “Leave It Alone,” “Creepin,'” and “Cinnamon,” Hayley has now shared the fifth and final lyric video. Check out “Sudden Desire,” featuring footage from the recording studio.
Hayley wrote “Sudden Desire” with Joey Howard (Paramore’s touring bassist); Paramore guitarist Taylor York produced the song. Over dark bass, Hayley sings about wanting to kiss a man outside his house. It moves into a robotic and moody chorus, but belts of “a sudden desire” in the background make it feel like the most Paramore track on Hayley’s solo EP. In an interview with Zane Lowe one month ago, we learned that this song will get a music video directed by Paramore drummer Zac Farro.
The new lyric video shows how the song we developed, with most focus on Hayley recording her vocals. The footage all comes from August 2019 in the depths of the studio, and it serves as a making-of for the song.

Beyond the 5-song EP, Hayley is now teasing a new song. Last weekend, she shared the lyrics for an upcoming song called “Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris,” which features backing vocals by the indie group boygenius. Check out a quick preview here:
Touring & Paramore’s Future
Hayley will tour for her solo album this May. She just announced an intimate tour of North America and Europe, with more dates to be announced at a later date.

Hayley has also confirmed that Paramore is not over. They will make music together again, though it probably won’t sound like her forthcoming solo material. In any case, Hayley indicated that this solo album is an important step that will only help the band grow.
