The Story Continues With Hayley Williams’ “Leave It Alone Interlude”

Following “Simmer,” “Simmer Interlude,” and “Leave It Alone,” Hayley Williams isn’t ready to slow down yet. She just shared a new music video, this time for “Leave It Alone Interlude.” Hayley is gearing up to release her first solo album, Petals For Armor, on May 8th.

Picking up where “Leave It Alone” left off, in the new interlude video we watch as Hayley fully emerges from her cocoon. She’s still in that small room, and has to cover herself up with the leftover membrane and webs. But as the video nears its end, an eerie sigh calls to Hayley from the door keyhole. Whatever it was, we won’t encounter until the next music video for the next single.

New Interview With Zane Lowe

Today, fans also get to see Hayley’s extensive new interview with Zane Lowe for Beats 1 on Apple Music. Hayley joked that it sounds more like a therapy session, and indeed, they dive into some weighty subject matter. Hayley gets very candid about the events in her personal life that she struggles with. From her parents’ combined three divorces to Hayley’s own divorce to her mental health issues and efforts to cope, we learn a lot about the inner turmoil that’s led to this new solo music. “Leave It Alone” was inspired by her Nana (maternal grandmother) who suffered a terrible fall that impacted her memory.

Hayley describes her relationship with Paramore and with Taylor York and Zac Farro. Although 2019 was supposed to be a year off for her – while Taylor and Zac focused on their own projects – she ended up turning to music to heal. She’s been in intensive therapy since late 2018, and writing has proven to be helpful in this process. Hayley also said that it felt too heavy to burden the rest of Paramore with. The new music felt like it had to be just for her. Even so, though, she wrote and recorded the music with the same crew that’s been with Paramore. She co-wrote with both Taylor and Zac – and touring member Joey Howard – and Taylor has served as producer on her songs.

Later in the interview, Hayley talks more about “Simmer” and “Leave It Alone.” Zane Lowe also mentions another new song he’s heard, titled “Sudden Desire.” Hayley confirms that it has a music video, conceived of by Zac Farro.

Zane Lowe and Hayley Williams have an incredible, deep, and honest conversation, and it’s one of the best interviews we’ve heard. Listen and watch below:
